The Journal - a diary of Elisa moments and memories

Dear Elisa,

In 1998 I discovered the Elisa sculptures. The first time I laid my eyes on the "Lovers" statue I thought of my future husband. We were getting married that year and I knew I had to have that statue. I have never seen anything as beautiful. My mother was with me and she could see how the statue made me light up. Finally I talked myself into buying it and of course when I went back, it was gone. I was so upset and so mad at myself for not buying it that day. My mother surprised me Christmas day with the statue. She is the one who bought it. It was a late Wedding and Christmas present. I was so excited. So whenever there is something special in my life happening such as a wedding, baby or a special birthday, I get to pick out a special statue. I've already start this tradition with my own daughter, she is 5 years old. My favorite one is still my first - "Lovers".

Dear Elisa,

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina I found my thoughts constantly drawing me to Añoranza/Longing. She reminds me of all the people left homeless following this horrible disaster. Some escaped with a few precious possessions, many with only the clothes on their backs. Thousands are being relocated to new homes,to begin new lives in places unknown. Añoranza reminds me of the uncertainty facing these people.Yet the rose offers hope. Hope for the future, hope for new life. From bud to beautiful bloom the rose offers comfort following disaster.

Dear Elisa,

Several years ago I discovered the Elisa sculptures. I couldn't help thinking about my daughters, all now grown. When they came home for a holiday celebration I took them all to see my discovery. They all fell under the spell as I had. I had each daughter choose her favorite for herself. I was surprised that their selections matched the pieces that most reminded me of them. These sculptures really capture our thoughts, emotions and moments in our lives.

Dear Elisa,

Recently I lost my father to cancer. He was 86 years old. All my life I was “Daddy's girl”. He always got a kick out of me introducing him as “My Daddy”. Years ago I happened to see Coqueta/Little Miss in a store window. She reminded me of dressing up as a child in Mommy's sweater and high heels and Daddy's hat. She is now proudly displayed on a shelf in my home next to a picture of my Daddy. Every time I walk by I remember all the love, strength and memories he gave me. I will always be “Daddy's Girl”.

Time for DreamsDear Elisa,

I was introduced to Elisa a few years ago by a friend. I now have three beautiful Elisa pieces in my home. They add such an air of serenity and quiet elegance that I never tire of looking at them. They seem to fit effortlessly into any decor. Just gazing at them is as calming as a yoga class.
