a better world, a world with increased justice and solidarity.
These are precisely the feelings that the sculptress
Montserrat Ribes has intended to convey through this
new sculpture. The work portrays a young woman surrounded
by what is the symbol of peace par excellence: trusting
doves approaching the young woman. "Millennium
of love" is the physical illustration of these
feelings in this key moment of the history of mankind:
the beginning of a new millennium.

Our Lady of Montserrat, that was proclaimed patroness
of Catalonia in 1881, is one of the most important elements
of the Catalan culture. Elisa, the headquarters of which
are located at the bottom of the mountain of Montserrat,
has also wanted to make its own version of the Virgin
due to its close relationship with the mountain. It
is a representation of the Virgin holding the Christ-child,
and both have the characteristic that has conferred
them their own personality: the dark color of their
skin.
